CP JINR to initiate first NICA run

From 24 to 26 March 2025, the JINR International Conference Centre will host a session of a governing body of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, the Committee of Plenipotentiary Representatives of the Governments of the JINR Member States, preceded by a Finance Committee meeting. The committees’ chairs will be elected, the results of the past fiscal year will be summarised, and the current year’s budget will be reviewed. The first run of the NICA Accelerator Complex is scheduled for 25 March as part of this CP session.
A meeting of the JINR Finance Committee will take place on Monday, 24 March. JINR Director, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) Grigory Trubnikov will provide an overview of the Institute’s scientific results, key projects and activities. Head of the JINR Budget and Economic Policy Department Nikolay Kalinin will give a talk about the execution of the 2024 Institute’s budget and a draft of the revised budget for 2025. JINR Vice-Director Latchesar Kostov will make a presentation on the selection of an organization for conducting an audit of the 2024 Institute’s financial activities. Head of the Development of Digital Services Department Mikhail Vasiliev will discuss the JINR’s switching from the Dubna Electronic Document Management System to the new information system as the Institute’s procurement platform. A VBLHEP JINR leading researcher Arkady Taranenko will make a presentation “Cosmic matter in a laboratory: the BM@N Experiment (NICA)”.
On 25 March, Grigory Trubnikov will start the CP session with a talk analysing not only the results of 2024, but also the Institute’s readiness to start conducting large-scale research using the newly created large infrastructure, primarily the NICA Accelerator Complex. JINR Vice-Director Vladimir Kekelidze will discuss the first NICA run. Nikolay Kalinin will review the execution of the 2024 JINR budget and the revised 2025 JINR budget. JINR Finance Committee Chair will dicuss the results of the meeting on 24 March.
In the first half of the day, CP members will visit the NICA Accelerator Complex and hold a ceremony of initiating the complex’s first run.
In the second part of the event, the CP Chair will announce the JINR Director election and the candidates nominated for the position. The election is scheduled for the November CP session. JINR Scientific Leader, RAS Academician Victor Matveev will give a scientific talk “On the 60th anniversary of the hypothesis of coloured quarks and the Dubna hadron model”. The Institute’s Chief Scientific Secretary Sergey Nedelko will discuss the organization of events dedicated to the 70th JINR anniversary.
On 26 March, the CP members will hold a general discussion, make decisions, and sign the protocol.
