Celebrating International Day of Women and Girls in Science
News, 11 February 2024
On 11 February 2024, for the ninth time, the world celebrates the International Day of Women and Girls in Science adopted by the United Nations. The Joint Institute supports this initiative. We believe that greater inclusion of women will give a new impetus to the development of science, technology, and innovation.
In honour of this day, we would like to pay tribute to our female employees contributing to the progress of JINR every day. We strive to attract the attention of the world community to the issues of women’s scientific agenda, so that as many women and girls as possible get the necessary assistance and social support for self-realisation in science. We hope that by participating in this annual event, the Joint Institute will encourage the emergence of new brilliant female talents at the forefront of science and technology.
The International Day of Women and Girls in Science was adopted by the United Nations (UN) General Assembly in 2015 to promote the full participation of women of all ages in the development of science, technology, and innovation. The global professional community is concerned that women account for only 30% of researchers. The holiday helps to acknowledge the contribution of women scientists to the advancement of science and technology and to encourage more women to become interested in research.
