Today, on 30 June, the meeting “Superheavy Elements” starts. The goal of the event is an extensive discussion of the scientific programme of studies on superheavy elements and the creation of modern infrastructure for its implementation. RAS President Alexander Sergeev will take part in the meeting. The “Scientific Russia” portal will provide a live broadcast of the event.

JINR Director RAS Academician Grigory Trubnikov and Scientific Leader of the Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions Yuri Oganessian will open the programme of the event. President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Sergeev will make a scientific report “Ionization of vacuum by extreme light fields”.

Leading scientists and heads of a number of scientific centres engaged in the discussed research programme are invited for participation.

The meeting will last until 2 July.
