Belarus-JINR: extending horizons of cooperation

On 26 – 27 March 2019, a delegation represented by leaders of scientific centres of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Belarus visited JINR. The delegation was headed by Academician-Secretary of the Department of Physics, Mathematics and Informatics of the NAS of Belarus V. A. Orlovich.
The delegation was represented by A. V. Tuzikov, Director-General of the Joint Institute of Informatics Problems, V. G. Zalessky, Director of the Physical-Technical Institute, T. N. Korbut, Deputy Director-General for scientific work of the Joint Institute for Power and Nuclear Research – Sosny, K. I. Yanushkevich, Head of the Laboratory of Physics of Magnetic Materials, Scientific-Practical Materials Research Centre of NAS of Belarus, and D. V. Shelkovy, Deputy Head of the Centre “Fundamental interactions and astrophysics”, the B. I. Stepanov Institute of Physics.
During the visit to JINR, the Belarusian delegation took part in festive events dedicated to the JINR Foundation Day as well as was acquainted with the scientific infrastructure and fields of scientific activities of the Laboratory of Information Technologies and the Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics.
JINR Director Academician V. A. Matveev welcomed the guests at the meeting held in the Directorate of the Joint Institute. The JINR party at the meeting was represented by JINR Vice-Director V. D. Kekelidze, JINR Chief Scientific Secretary A. S. Sorin, Head of the JINR International Cooperation Department D. V. Kamanin, DLNP Chief Researcher N. A. Russakovich and Head of the LRB group V. N. Chausov.
Participants of the meeting noted a high level of the existing Belarus-JINR cooperation and expressed their wish to enhance it. Promising fields of the cooperation development were discussed at the meeting, in particular, the Belarusian party expressed its interest in JINR educational programmes and activities of the AYSS JINR. Furthermore, the Belarusian guests highlighted their wish to extend the number of scientists of the Belarusian Academy of Sciences and academic youth in JINR.
For working out further steps for development of cooperation, more detailed acquaintance of representatives of scientific centres of the NAS of Belarus with JINR was proposed to organize, including that on the platform of the JEMS training programme for decision-makers in science.
