On 15 May 2024, at 4:00 PM, the Association of Young Scientists and Specialists at JINR invites everyone interested to the next seminar that will take place in the Big Hall of the JINR Scientists’ Club (6, Joliot-Curie street, left side).

Head of the Methodical Research Sector of the Scientific and Experimental Department of Elementary Particle Physics at DLNP at JINR Nikolay Anfimov will deliver his report “Why do we need photodetectors?”.

The speaker will talk about what photodetectors are, what types of detectors there are and where they are used. Is a single photon a lot or a little, and can we see them? The use of photodetectors in some major physics facilities and their applications will also be discussed. The seminar is aimed at a wide audience.
