AYSS seminar at JINR Scientists’ Club

Seminars

On 9 April 2025, at 4:00 PM, the Association of Young Scientists and Specialists at JINR invites everyone interested to the next seminar that will take place in the Big Hall of the JINR Scientists’ Club (6 Joliot-Curie St, left side).

A junior researcher at the VBLHEP Scientific and Experimental Department of the Multi-Purpose Detector (MPD) Victor Baryshnikov will deliver a presentation titled “Behind the scenes: processing and preparing ECal and ToF experimental data at MPD at NICA”.

The seminar is devoted to key aspects of processing experimental data from two systems of the Multi-Purpose Detector at NICA: the electromagnetic calorimeter (ECal, measuring the energy of photons and electrons) and the time-of-flight detector (TOF, determining the time of flight of charged particles).

Special attention will be paid to the “behind-the-scenes” processes necessary to meet the MPD Project requirements for these systems, primary signal processing, detector calibration, and interpretation of data obtained while testing detector elements. The specifics of “raw” data processing will be considered, along with the digital signal processing methods and event reconstruction algorithms used.
