At the meeting of the JINR Public Council

A regular meeting of the JINR Public Council was held on 20 July in the International Conference Hall. This time, the agenda of the event included the most topical issues that the urban and institute communities are concerned about.
First of all, the city anniversary celebration, which was previously planned on 23-24 July, was postponed on 4-5 September, as Head of the Dubna City Administration Sergey Kulikov informed. These dates are preliminary, the final decision depends on the stabilisation of the epidemiological situation in Moscow region. Deputy Head of the Dubna City Administration Nikolay Madfes provided further information about the joint programme of celebration of the 65th anniversary and Dubna.
Director of the Moscow Regional Physics and Mathematics Lyceum named after Academician V. G. Kadyshevsky Yu. Kurlapov devoted his report to the current situation on the creation of the Lyceum in Dubna. It was an extensive and multifaceted work that is close to its completion now: external repair work has been completed to prepare buildings for the first academic year, school equipment and furniture have been imported, textbooks have been ordered, a teaching staff has been appointed, difficult work on completing classes is being finished , there have been meetings with parents who are ready to assist both in preparing the Lyceum for the launch of classes and during the entire educational process.
O. Koval, A. Tamonov, V. Matveev, A. Karpov, A. Verkheev, O. Culicov, M. Shirchenko asked questions to the speaker and made some comments.
Deputy Head of the City Administration A. Stepanenko introduced the concept of landscaping the Joliot-Curie Garden Square to meeting participants. The decisions on the major overhaul of the garden square, which is planned to be completed during the current year, are based on the concern about preserving the current historical appearance of the centre of JINR part of Dubna, and, as Head of the city S. Kulikov noted, the project is planned to be submitted for public discussion. R. Jolos, Ya. Vikulin, M. Shirchenko, E. Uglov, V. Kekelidze, G. Trubnikov, O. Koval, A. Verkheev, I. Koshlan expressed their suggestions to the speaker.
Head of Dubna S. Kulikov and Chairman of the Commission on Economics, Science and Education of the Public Chamber of Dubna A. Rats spoke about the criteria, which the development programme of the science city of Dubna meets. R. Jolos, G. Trubnikov, I. Meshkov, O. Koval, I. Koshlan, Ya. Vikulin, P. Nomokonov took an active participation in the discussion of the important topic for the development of the city.
Chief Engineer of JINR B. Gikal informed participants of the event about the interaction process between the Institute and the city on the issues of land allocation and approval. Yu. Panebrattsev brought back the issue of creating a science museum in Dubna, choosing a place for its construction.
Scientific Leader of JINR V. Matveev made a closing speech at the meeting of the Council. He highly appreciated the role of this social organization in the development of interaction between the urban governments and the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research as one of the leading city-forming enterprises.
