ARIADNA Collaboration Meeting starts at JINR

On 31 May 2024, a meeting of the ARIADNA Collaboration on applied research at the NICA Complex began at the Laboratory of High Energy Physics at JINR. Participants will discuss the scientific programmes of organizations involved in the implementation of state tasks for conducting research using the infrastructure of the NICA Complex.
Scientific groups of seven organizations subordinate to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, which participate in ARIADNA, will share their work plans. The first results of applied research at the NICA Complex will be presented, and plans for further development of the collaboration will be outlined. The meeting programme will include reports on radiation materials science, radiation modification of materials, biomedical research, and testing of radiation resistance of electronics using ion beams of the NICA Accelerator Complex.
The meeting is attended by representatives of a number of specialised organizations recognised as leading scientific centers in the designated areas of work. The meeting, held in a hybrid format, brought together more than 100 participants from JINR, National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, RAS Institute of Chemical Physics, RAS Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry, RAS Institute of Biomedical Problems, RAS Institute of Theoretical and Experimental Biophysics, North Ossetian State University.
JINR Vice-Director Latchesar Kostov gave an introductory speech. He congratulated the organizers and participants on opening the event. Head of the ARIADNA Сollaboration Oleg Belov wished the scientists successful and fruitful work and informed the audience about the status of the ARIADNA Collaboration, its participants, and current tasks. The meeting attendees continued to discuss the elements of the ARIADNA scientific programme for the near future.
