Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Moldova to Russia visited JINR

On 26 July, a meeting was held of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Moldova to the Russian Federation Lilian Darii and leaders of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research headed by JINR Director RAS Academician Grigory Trubnikov.
The parties discussed various aspects of the development of cooperation between Moldova and JINR. Prospects for conducting joint events and studies, participation of the Institute in the scientific staff training for Moldova were considered. The delegation of Moldova was also represented by Economic Adviser to the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova to the Russian Federation Ion Răuleț.
Lilian Dorii noted Moldova’s interest in participating in JINR projects and confirmed the readiness of the country to continue contributing to joint scientific developments. He highlighted that the scientific community should always actively carry out joint projects despite the difficulties of the times. Interaction of scientists from different countries, as it has historically been, should continue in the future, especially there is such a unique platform as JINR, an international centre with a rich scientific history and significant achievements.
JINR Director Grigory Trubnikov thanked the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary for such a high opinion of the Institute’s activities. In his turn he also outlined the importance of uniting scientists from different countries and expanding scientific contacts. “In our work we base exclusively on the principles of open science, and all our programmes and strategies are in fact part of the global scientific strategy. This is especially true for megascience. Everyone conducting such projects synchronise to a certain extent with their colleagues from other countries. That is why one of our common tasks is to integrate scientists engaged in world science,” he highlighted.
One of the key topics of the meeting was plans for the development of international cooperation in the near future. In particular, Grigory Trubnikov outlined strengthening scientific ties of JINR with Pakistan, Brazil, and Mexico. Close cooperation with CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, is also continuing.
The issues of personnel training were also of great importance during the meeting. JINR Director spoke about the successful experience of the Institute in arranging training programmes for the scientific and administrative personnel of research and educational organizations, as well as student internships. The possibility of organizing a high-level meeting in Moldova with the participation of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, representatives of universities, and the student community was discussed in order to further develop cooperation and training of the scientific personnel.
As part of the visit, the delegation also visited the Laboratory of High Energy Physics, the Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions, and the Laboratory of Information Technologies. In addition, representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova met with JINR staff members from Moldova.
The event had a positive atmosphere, the parties expressed their willingness to continue and expand cooperation in research and training, which will bring fruitful results for both sides in the future.
