Valery Falkov in his report spoke about the development of higher education and science in order to adapt to the demands of the real economy. More details about the speech are available on the website of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
During the “government hour”, the Minister noted the recent launch of the Baikal-GVD mega-science project, which is being implemented under the leadership of JINR, as a driver for science development in the region, as well as a magnet for young people.
«“This gives a lot to the Irkutsk region. Some Irkutsk universities and scientific institutes have revived and entered into good interaction with our leaders, in particular, with the RAS Institute for Nuclear Research and the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research. This results in new interesting programmes that have been already agreed upon, joint departments, research projects. For young people who make decisions, school graduates, and Bachelor students, it is a direct answer to the questions ‘Do I need to stay in the Irkutsk region?’ Should I stay in Buryatia?’ This is an interesting case. What does attract young people? Interesting people and interesting activities. That is why we will continue to support such projects,” Valery Falkov highlighted.
