Abstract:

Ongoing experiments searching for neutrinoless double beta decay (0νββ) will be analyzed. The GERDA experiment will be discussed in more detail. It reached the record low background index on 2 counts / (FWHM⋅t⋅yr) in the region of 2039 keV using the array of bare germanium detectors enriched in ⁷⁶Ge and immersed in liquid argon, which serves as active shielding. No signal is observed after 127.2 kg yr of total exposure. A new limit on the half-life of the 0νββ decay in ⁷⁶Ge is set at T_1/2 > 1.8⋅10²⁶ yr at 90% C.L.
