News, 17 January 2025
On 20 January, the 61st meeting of the JINR Programme Advisory Committee for Particle Physics will take place at the JINR International Conference Centre. The committee members will consider reports on the progress of current projects and proposals for initiating new ones and prolongating those that are nearing completion. Joint Institute employees will make presentations on their latest research results.
Programme of the 61st PAC meeting for Particle Physics
Chair of the Programme Advisory Committee for Particle Physics Itzhak Tserruya will open the meeting with a talk on the implementation of the recommendations of the 60th meeting of the PAC PP. The Institute’s Vice-Director Vladimir Kekelidze will present information on the Resolution of the 136th session of the JINR Scientific Council (September 2024) and the decisions of the Committee of Plenipotentiaries of the Governments of the JINR Members States (November 2024).
The PAC members will hear reports about the implementation of the ongoing projects at the NICA Accelerator Complex: Nuclotron-NICA (Anatoly Sidorin), Engineering infrastructure of NICA (Konstantin Mukhin), the BM@N (Mikhail Kapishin), and the SPD (Alexey Guskov). Chief Researcher at the VBLHEP JINR Sector of Elementary Particle Identification, MPD Collaboration Spokesperson Victor Riabov will talk about the progress of the Multi-Purpose Detector Project and the proposal for its continuation.
Deputy Head of the DLNP JINR Scientific and Experimental Department of Elementary Particle Physics Liudmila Kolupaeva will put forward a proposal for a new project entitled “Study of neutrino properties in accelerator experiments”.
Elena Rogochaya (ALICE), Ivan Yeletskikh (ATLAS), and Vladimir Karzhavin (CMS) will present the research results obtained by JINR groups in the experiments at the CERN’s Large Hadron Collider (LHC).
The event will continue with the presentation “Status of the SRC Programme in the HyperNIS+SRC Project” by a VBLHEP JINR senior researcher Maria Patsyuk. A senior researcher at the BLTP JINR Standard Model Sector Alexey Zhevlakov will talk in detail about study of dark matter physics using fixed target experiments.
At the end of the event, young scientists of the Joint Institute will make poster presentations in particle physics. Closing the meeting, the PAC members will adopt the recommendations of the Programme Advisory Committee and make proposals for the agenda of the next meeting.
