25th anniversary of the CMS experiment
World science, 29 June 2017
The CMS (Compact Muon Solenoid) experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2017. Participants of the experiment gathered to celebrate this jubilee at a festive event «CMS Summer Party – 25 years of CMS» which was held in the frames of the regular CMS Week meeting. The party was held near the experimental hall of the CMS facility situated near the French village of Cessy, not far away from the border with Switzerland.
The CMS experiment is a general-purpose detector at the Large Hadron Collider, which is the biggest particle accelerator complex ever built in the World, joins scientists and engineers from 34 countries. The RDMS CMS collaboration of Russian institutes and JINR Member States participating in the CMS experiment is a substantive and important part of this project. The RDMS CMS collaboration includes more than 300 scientists; it is based on wide involvement of the scientific and industrial potential of participating countries. JINR holds a regular joint scientific seminar «Physics on the Large Hadron Collider» which was organized by the RDMS CMS collaboration of Russian institutes and JINR Member States.
