Nanomaterials exhibit extraordinary physical and chemical properties. That makes them useful in a myriad of low cost but effective products and technologies. 1D and 2D nanomaterials can be produced in many ways, and can be tailor-made for specific applications. This novelty is set to reverberate throughout many industries, enhancing performance, bringing down costs, and encouraging business startups and investment. The global market for nano-based industries is set to reach 54.55 billion by 2033. Oman, along with many other nations, will stand to gain significantly from the advancement of nanomaterial-based technologies in facing he energy and environmental challenges. This talk will focus on the development of one-dimensional nanomaterials, fabricated in-house through chemical vapor deposition, and their potential applications in energy systems. Additionally, The speaker will highlight the application of nanomaterials in renewable energy, including the piezoelectric ZnO nanorod (ZnONR) nanogenerator, and the oil and gas industry, with an emphasis on heavy oil viscosity reduction and drilling fluid enhancement. In addition, ongoing research focuses on the remediation of radioactive materials in Aflaj (water channels), aiming to mitigate contamination and restore these essential water systems through innovative nanomaterial-based solutions. This research underscores the transformative potential of nanomaterials in energy, industrial processes, and surface science.
