Speakers: Aleksandr Doroshkevich, Efraín Rafael Chávez Lomeli

Abstract:

The report by A.S. Doroshkevich and I.A. Chepurchenko will consider the technical possibilities and methodological base of the accelerator complex based on the upgraded EG-5 Electrostatic Accelerator at JINR (Dubna, Russia). The scientific programme of the FLNR JINR Sector of Nuclear-Physics Materials Science and Ion-Beam Nanotechnologies of the Division of Nuclear Physic, the prospects for its development, and key scientific results will be presented, and promising directions of international cooperation development will be proposed. The purpose of the report is to familiarise colleagues with the studies carried out at JINR using the EG-5 Electrostatic Accelerator and to discuss possible cooperation proposals.

The report by Prof. Efrain Rafael Chavez Lomeli, will consider the technical possibilities and methodological base of the single-stage 5.5-MV Van de Graaff accelerator in Mexico will be considered. The speaker will provide an overview of the scientific programme, basic research in nuclear and atomic energy physics, applied research in materials science, astrophysics, biophysics, archeology, etc. The scope of the report will also include a brief history of the accelerator operation, development of instruments, ion sources, targets, (gas, solid, etc.), detectors of neutrons, gamma-radiation, charged particles, nuclear electronics (beam diagnostics, data acquisition, etc.), instrument control (laser communication, pneumatic devices). The purpose of the report is to familiarise colleagues with the operation of the Van de Graaff accelerator and to discuss proposals for possible cooperation.
