Аннотация:

The production of intense, highly charged ion beams is crucial for high-power heavy ion accelerators. A novel movable Vlasov launcher has been developed for a superconducting high charge state ECR (Electron Cyclotron Resonance) ion source, significantly enhancing the microwave power’s effectiveness—by up to a factor of 4 in the production of highly charged ion beams. This innovative microwave launching system, which departs from traditional coupling schemes, offers new insights into microwave-plasma interaction. As a result, we have achieved world-record xenon ion beam currents, enhanced by a factor of up to 2. This advancement could substantially improve heavy ion accelerator performance and create numerous new research opportunities in nuclear physics, atomic physics, and other related fields.
