Seminar topic: “Solid-state neutron detectors based on hexagonal boron nitride – state of art and perspectives”
Докладчик: Igor Kreslo (MIPT)
Аннотация:
Monocrystallic hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) is a promising material for use in novel high-efficiency fast solid-state detectors of neutrons – thermal, as well as to some extent fast ones. This material allows to combine a neutron converter (capture process 10B(n,a)7Li) and a semiconductor detector of ionizing neutron capture products within the same crystal. The report represents an overview of literature on hBN semiconductor properties, manufacturing methods and detector prototypes performance.
In conclusion, the research program towards development of such detectors in Russian Federation is proposed for discussion.
