Seminar topic: “Status of the MEG II experiment on search for the μ+→𝑒+γ decay at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI), Switzerland”
Speaker: N. V. Khomutov
Abstract:
The MEG experiment performed with the world’s most intense muon beam at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) in Switzerland is aimed at searching for the muon decay μ+→𝑒+γ forbidden by the Standard Model. During 2015−2021, the MEG setup was significantly upgraded, and now the experiment moved into the second phase and is called MEG II. In December 2022, the first six-month physical run of the experimental data set on the upgraded MEG II facility was completed. The report presents the status and immediate prospects of the experiment.
