130th session of JINR Scientific Council

On 23 – 24 September, the 130th regular session of the JINR Scientific Council will be held in the JINR International Conference Hall.
JINR Director Grigory Trubnikov will open the session with a report dedicated to the overview of the Institute’s activities conducted since the previous SC JINR session.
Participants of the SC session will consider recommendations of the JINR Programme Advisory Committees adopted at the meetings in June 2021. PACs Chairmen Itzhak Tserruya (PAC for Particle Physics), Marek Lewitowicz (PAC for Nuclear Physics), and Dénes Lajos Nagy (PAC for Condensed Matter Physics) will introduce them.
Director of the Bogoliubov Laboratory of Theoretical Physics Dmitri Kazakov will make the report “Four pillars of BLTP” at the SC session.
Besides that, a young JINR researcher Dina Badreeva will make a report recommended by the PAC for Condensed Matter Physics “Effect of charged lipids on β-amyloid peptide interactions with a phospholipid membrane” on the first day of the SC session.
On Friday, 24 September, Director of the Veksler and Baldin Laboratory of High Energy Physics Richard Lednický will make a speech about the progress of implementation of the NICA project. After that, JINR Director Grigory Trubnikov will present the first steps in implementation of the JINR Long-Term Development Strategic Plan.
On the occasion of the 65th JINR anniversary, the programme of the session includes greeting statements by representatives of the diplomatic missions of Member States of JINR.
Niwa Kimio, the laureate of the Bruno Pontecorvo Prize, who has received this award for the development of the high-resolution nuclear emulsion technique, which led to identification of the tau neutrino and direct observation of tau neutrino oscillations, will make a speech at the session.
At the end of the session of the JINR Scientific Council, a ceremony of giving diplomas to the winners of the JINR annual prizes for the scientific papers in the fields of scientific research, instruments and methods, and applied research will be held. The session will be concluded with a general discussion and the adoption of the Resolution of the JINR Scientific Council.
