122nd session of the JINR Scientific Council

The 122nd regular session of the JINR Scientific Council will be held on 18 – 19 September 2017 in the International Conference Hall, Dubna.
The Session will be opened by a report of the JINR Director V.A. Matveev. Further on, participants will be acquainted with the progress of the NICA project (V.D. Kekelidze) and the status of the Factory of Superheavy Elements and its future prospects (S.N. Dmitriev). Scientific reports will be made by A. Rustamov “The quest for phase transitions in strongly interacting matter” and I. Tserruya “Probing dense matter at NICA energies with dileptons: prospects and challenges”.
An important event of the session will be the election of the director of the Bogoliubov Laboratory of Theoretical Physics. The сandidates for the position are Mikhail Hnatič and Dmitry Kazakov. At the conclusion of the first day of the 122nd SC Session, the chairmen of the JINR Programme Advisory committees will report on recommendations of the PACs for particle physics, nuclear physics and condensed matter physics.
On the second day, participants of the Session will hear reports of young scientists recommended by the PACs: “Investigation of exotic states in light nuclei” by D. Janseitov, “Neurochemical alterations in central nervous system of rodents after exposure to different radiation modalities” by K. Belokopytova and “The TUS space experiment” by M. Lavrova.
JINR Director V.A. Matveev will award the B. Pontecorvo Prize to Professors Yifang Wang, Soo-Bong Kim, and Koichiro Nishikawa. The winners of JINR annual prizes for best papers in the fields of scientific research, instruments and methods, and applied research will be awarded with diplomas.
