110th anniversary of birth of Mikhail G. Meshcheryakov

On 17 September 2020, the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research celebrates the 110th anniversary of the birth of Mikhail Grigorievich Meshcheryakov, an outstanding experimental physicist and a talented science organizer, a laureate of the USSR state prizes, Corresponding Member of the USSR Academy of Sciences.
M. G. Meshcheryakov headed the construction of the largest at that time proton accelerator (a 6-meter synchrocyclotron with an energy of 680 MeV), was a founder of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research and Dubna. He was one of the Soviet physicists who took an active part in solving the atomic problem in the USSR, who were first to construct large accelerators, to conducted research in the fields of nuclear and particle physics, scientific research automation.
In honour of the memorable date, the Laboratory of Information Technologies will hold a seminar dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the birth of Mikhail Grigorievich. The seminar will take place on 18 September 2020, at 1:30 PM, and will be held in person (by invitation) in the International Conference Hall and remotely (as a videoconference on Webex).
The JINR Scientific Information Department in cooperation with the Laboratory of Information Technologies JINR issued a commemorative booklet dedicated to Mikhail Grigorievich Meshcheryakov.
