Seminar topic: “Hardware and software development for Precision Laser Inclinometers”

Speaker: A. V. Krasnoperov

Abstract:

The Precision Laser Inclinometer (PLI) developed at DLNP (JINR) is intended for high-precision measurements of the Earth surface inclinations in relation to the direction of gravitational acceleration.

The report shows the design of the PLI and discusses the problems which can be solved using this instrument. The inclinometer functioning in different modes is considered. The inclinometer data acquisition systems currently operating at the Garni Geophysical Observatory (GGO, Armenia), at the European Gravity Observatory (EGO, Italy) and at the European Center for Nuclear Research (CERN, Geneva) are overviewed. Variants of constructing inclinometer networks based on the existing data acquisition systems are discussed. The scheme of operation of the recording electronics developed for the next-generation inclinometers is presented.
