JINR Newsletter #24, 3 July 2024Dear colleagues and friends, Last week, JINR renewed the cooperation agreement with Rosatom State Corporation, thus becoming an official member of the MBIR (Multipurpose Fast Research Reactor) Consortium. A major visit of a JINR delegation to China began with a meeting at the Institute of Plasma Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (ASIPP) in Hefei. In addition, JINR is hosting the 74th International Nuclear Physics Conference “Nucleus-2024: Fundamental Issues and Applications”. CooperationJINR renews cooperation agreement with Rosatom, becoming official member of MBIR ConsortiumJINR Director, RAS Academician Grigory Trubnikov and Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev signed the document on 26 June alongside the 2nd Obninsk NEW International Youth Nuclear Forum. The new agreement outlines plans for bilateral collaboration on a number of key scientific projects of the Joint Institute. READ MORE ➟JINR Director visits Institute of Plasma Physics of Chinese Academy of SciencesAs part of the visit on 1–2 July, Grigory Trubnikov met with the Director General of the Institute of Plasma Physics, Professor Song Yuntao, to discuss the prospects for enhancing cooperation between the two scientific centres. Joint work is planned in education, materials science, medical and environmental research. READ MORE ➟Conferences74th Nucleus International Conference starts at JINROn 1 July, the Laboratory of Theoretical Physics at JINR hosted the opening of Nucleus-2024: Fundamental Problems and Applications, the biggest annual Russian nuclear physics conference. This year, the event is organized by JINR, Moscow State University, and Saint Petersburg State University. READ MORE ➟EducationFirst stage of international internship for South African students finishesOn 21 June, the last day of the internship by the JINR University Centre, the participants presented the projects they worked on during their three-week visit to Dubna. Several students, along with their supervisors and the Deputy Director of iThemba LABS, coordinator of the internship, shared their thoughts on this experience. The Olympiad was organized by JINR, Moscow Engineering Physics Institute, Rosatom, Kurchatov Institute, and the Russian Academy of Sciences. Their findings could help in developing nature-like materials. The article was published in the Minerals journal. READ MORE ➟AwardsNICA as award: winner of quiz by Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education visits JINRA Bauman University student Tatyana Mitrofanova won a quiz on the main achievements in science, technology, and higher education, which took place during the Science and Universities Day of the International Russia Forum. This granted her the opportunity to visit the NICA Complex at VBLHEP at JINR. The book presents the research activities of Garry Efimov and memories of his relatives, friends, colleagues, and students.
