A delegation from China visited JINR

On 10-11 September, 2015 the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research welcomed a delegation from the city of Hefei, China. The delegation included Standing Committee Member of CPC Anhui Provincial Committee, Party-secretary of CPC Hefei Municipal Committee Wu Cunrong, Deputy Director of the Hefei Institutes of Physical Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Jiang Haihe, Executive Deputy director of Institute of Plasma Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences Song Yuntao, Director of the Hefei Xinzhan General Pilot Zone Wang Wensong, Director of the Hefei Financial Bureau Wu Lilin, Director of the Hefei Commercial Bureau Xing Xiaohong, Party-secretary of the CPC Luyang District Committee Wu Jin Senior, Deputy Director of the Hefei Foreign & Overseas Chinese Affairs Office Chen Qiliang, Director of the Hefei State-owned Assets Supervision & Administration Commission Sun Liqiang, President of the Whirlpool (China) Co. Ltd. Jin Youhua, Secretary-general of the Hefei People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries Xiao Rangjian, Division-Chief of the Hefei Foreign & Overseas Chinese Affairs Office Tao Yali, Sales Director of the JAC International Michael Yang, Representative of the Whirlpool (China) Co. Ltd Tan Wenchao.
The delegation was welcomed by JINR Vice-Directors G.V. Trubnikov and R. Lednický, JINR Chief Engineer G.D. Shirkov, VBLHEP Director V.D. Kekelidze.

The aim of the visit of the Chinese delegation was strengthening of mutually advantageous cooperation of scientific research and health care centers of China with JINR.
During a business meeting which was held immediately after an excursion to the Veksler and Baldin Laboratory of High Energy Physics and the Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions, JINR Vice-Director G.V. Trubnikov made a presentation about JINR, describing the structure of the Institute, major directions of its scientific activity, development of the JINR experimental complex, in particular the Nuclotron/NICA accelerator complex; G.V. Trubnikov also spoke about history of cooperation between JINR and research institutions of China. G.D. Shirkov made a report on applied scientific research that is conducted at accelerator complexes, about proton therapy at JINR which aroused great interest of the guests. During a conversation R. Lednický and V.D. Kekelidze focused on significance of international scientific cooperation in achieving scientific purposes, and in particular uniting the efforts in the frames of the MegaScience project NICA, both in the fields of science and innovation. All speakers emphasized the importance of China’s participation in JINR as a Member State in present favorable geopolitical conditions. In addition, China is one of the founding countries of JINR. The visit lasted for two days and was finished with a warm dinner party and exchange of commemorative badges and presents.
