Аннотация:

In 1999, Cohen, Kaplan, and Nelson proposed a breakdown of the expected zero-point energy from quantum field theory based on limiting energy density to that of a black hole in given region. The result of this produces a relationship between the UV and IR cutoff of an effective field theory. This solution has been proposed to correct for the discrepancy between the quantum field theory calculated vacuum energy and the observed cosmological constant. We propose that the total energy density, not just the vacuum energy density, is relevant for this gravitational UV/IR mixing solution to the cosmological constant problem. Previously, the gravitational UV/IR mixing model implied a non-standard equation of state for dark energy, contradicting observation. In contrast, by including matter in the calculation of gravitational UV/IR mixing, we find a solution which accommodates a standard ΛCDM cosmology with constant dark energy. We further calculate the corrections to g-2 expected from this matter effect, accounting for the inclusion of real energy density in the calculation of state depletion.
