Vincent2 (1 – Joint institute for nuclear research, Dubna, Russia, 2 – Ionetix Corporation, Lansing, MI 48911, USA) “230 MEV SUPERCONDUCTING CYCLOTRON FOR PROTON THERAPY CONCEPTUAL DESIGN STUDY” Abstract    The results of conceptual design study of a 4-sector 230 MeV superconducting cyclotron for proton therapy in collaboration with Ionetix Corporation (Lansing, USA) are described. The devoted software, prepared for the design work, was used in the calculations. Simulations of the accelerator including the magnet and beam dynamics were performed. The central magnetic field of 2.97 T, beam acceleration in the 2nd harmonic mode with 90 – 135 kV at 3-dees RF structure is adopted. Extraction radius of the beam is 626 mm. The magnet has 4-fold symmetry with 73° maximal spiral angle. The total magnet weight is 46 ton. A development of the technical project of the superconducting magnet in collaboration with Tesla engineering Ltd, Storrington, Sussex, England is under way.
