Higher Courses «SYN-nano-2009»
Education, 02 July 2009
II Higher Courses of CIS for young scientists, post-graduate and graduate students on advanced methods of research in nanosystems and materials was opened in Dubna on 29 June. More than 60 students from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan and Kirgizia take part in it. The courses will continue until 13 July, they will be held in Dubna and Moscow.
The main topic of the courses is studies of nanosystems with the synchrotron and neutrons (that is where the short name of the courses «SYN-nano-2009» comes from). The opening ceremony which was held on 29 June in the big hall of the Dubna branch of the MSU Institute of Nuclear Physics had purely businesslike character. The Assistant to JINR Director Dr. Grigory Arzumanyan acquainted students with CIS scientist’s cooperation within the framework of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research. And the Scientific Leader of the Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics Professor Viktor Aksenov gave a lecture «Neutrons in Research of Nanosystems and Materials».
