Meeting of the 1st Coordinating Committee on cooperation between JINR and Serbia

A Meeting of the 1st Coordinating Committee on cooperation between JINR and Serbia was held at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research on 23 June 2010. On the Serbian side leading scientific researchers Dr.S.Petrović (the Vinča Institute of Nuclear Sciences, Belgrade), Dr.L.Simić (Institute of Physics, Belgrade) participated in the meeting; they were also experts at the current meetings of the Programme Advisory Committees for particle physics and condensed matter physics, respectively. From the JINR side Vice-Director R. Lednický, Director of the Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions S.N.Dmitriev and Deputy Chief Scientific Secretary D.V.Kamanin participated in the meeting.

Perspectives of cooperation and measures to further integration of Serbia into JINR activities as a JINR associate member were discussed during the meeting. In the issue of the meeting 5 joint projects in the fields of condensed matter physics which provide present cooperation of FLNR and the Vinča Institute, were approved. Summarily, about 50 scientific researchers will participate in the project from both sides. It was decided to consider suggestions on projects in the fields of particle physics and nuclear physics in the nearest future. A possibility of organization of an introductory practice for young Serbian scientists and students was considered. Direct results according to the decisions of the Committee are forthcoming to the November session of the Committee of Plenipotentiaries of the JINR Member States.
