About accelerators – In the British Embassy

A meeting on the initiative of Science and Innovation Section of the British Embassy named “Scientific Cafe” was held on 7 October 2010 in Moscow. The meeting was organized jointly with the non-profit Dynasty Foundation and was dedicated to linear accelerators and their implementation from cancer treatment to exploring the big bang.

At the meeting,  JINR was represented by a delegation of young scientists and officials of the JINR International Cooperation Department headed by D.V.Kamanin. JINR Chief Engineer Grigory Shirkov and Director of the John Adams Institute for Accelerator Science Professor Andrei Seryi made presentations about the International linear collider – the future great project in the field of particle physics.

A reception hosted by Caroline Wilson, Minister Counsellor (Economics, Trade& Investment) was held the next day at the British Ambassador’s Residence at Sofiyskaya Naberejnaya, Moscow. During the reception Dr. Nicolas Delerue and JINR DLNP Director Assistant Eugeni Syresin presented short reports on accelerators in medicine. The British Embassy was presented by Dr. Julia Knights, First Secretary, Head of Science and Innovation Section of the British Embassy in Moscow.
