A visit of a JINR delegation to Thessaloniki

On 9-13 May delegation from JINR, namely Director of the Laboratory for Information Technologies Prof. V.V. Ivanov and Deputy Chief Scientific Secretary Dr. D.V. Kamanin, visited Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), Greece.

On 11 May the Agreement on cooperation was signed. The Agreement consolidates fruitful collaboration between JINR and AUTH in the fields of computational mathematics, mathematical modeling, statistical mechanics and mathematical physics information, communication and knowledge technologies and opens new possibilities in other areas, such as Web Science and bioinformatics and biomedical technology. Among the planned next steps is the development of new web based tools for linked data and the Semantic web for JINR Member states and Russian research and educational institutions. This Agreement is the first step towards  association of Greece with JINR. Among the above listed fields of activities AUTH could play a key role. Rector of AUTH Prof. Ioannis Mylopoulos accepted an invitation to visit JINR in the nearest future.
