Если цель большинства массовых популярных изданий – делать научные истины достоянием людей, далеких от науки, то Еженедельник ОИЯИ ориентируется не на читателя вообще, а на вполне определенную аудиторию: ученых, инженеров, рабочих высокого класса. В этом специфика нашего еженедельника, в этом заключается и сложность работы коллектива газеты, который ставит перед собой цель сочетать популярность изложения с исключительной научной строгостью, достоверностью, ведь всякая сенсационность нашим авторам и читателям чужда.

В условиях международного научного центра трудно провести резкую грань между темой науки и темой сотрудничества ученых разных стран, которое с самых первых номеров стало еще одной ведущей темой. Практически все ведущие ученые стран-участниц, имена которых носят аллеи на площадках Института, были авторами газеты или с готовностью давали интервью ее корреспондентам. Таким образом, еженедельник “Дубна” стал международной научной трибуной, рассказывая о выдающихся результатах научных исследований и технических достижениях. При этом газета никогда не забывала о том, что ОИЯИ -уникальная школа высшей квалификации для ученых и инженеров из всех стран-участниц. Путь становления ученого стал еще одной магистральной темой газеты. Пожалуй, не будет преувеличением сказать, что на ее страницах создается в какой-то степени коллективный портрет современного ученого, достаточно достоверный и объективный. Знакомясь с рассказами о деятельности ученых, как известных, так и молодых, можно глубже понять, как делается наука, как она трудна и как нелегок “путь к ее сияющим вершинам”.“Дубна” – такая же необходимая часть жизни ОИЯИ, как препринты, библиотека, семинары, конференции. “Дубна” – часть того, что я бы назвал институтским “информационным полем”, и без нее это “поле” будет неполным, дырявым. Из недели в неделю она ведет свою летопись будничной жизни науки в ее преломлении через судьбу ОИЯИ и работающих здесь людей и сообщает нам друг о друге, а всем вместе – о нас самих (как сказал бы М.Жванецкий). FLNP and CSNS: there is a topic for cooperation
On 13-15 May, a workshop on neutron scattering technologies and interdisciplinary research was held in Dubna. The meeting was organized by FLNP JINR and CSNS of the Institute of High Energy Physics (China).

On 20 – 24 May, the 22nd International Seminar on High Energy Physics “Quarks” is held in a full-time format in the village of Ivanisovo (Yaroslavl Region).
Vivid results and new projects
On 14 – 17 May, the 10th Session of the Scientific Council of the Division of Physical Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences on Heavy Ion Physics “Relativistic Nuclear Physics and Heavy Ion Physics” was held in Nizhny Novgorod, organized by the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research and the Institute of Applied Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The representatives of RFNC-VNIIEF (Sarov), State Scientific Centre RIAR (Dimitrovgrad), FSUE “EKhP” (Lesnoy), NIIEFA (St. Petersburg), NCFM (Sarov), St. Petersburg State University (St. Petersburg) took part in the meeting.
There is energy enough for everything and this is just the beginning…
There is a saying: “Where you were born, you come in handy”. And my fate is a clear confirmation of it. I was born in Dubna. And my whole life is tied up with our beautiful city: kindergarten, school, university and now, work… During my school years, I went to different clubs, attended a volleyball section, a school for conflict management, graduated from a music school with an accordion class and participated in organizing actions of the movement “Nashi”, performed at school celebrations.
Neural networks and neutron tomography
The popularity of neural networks has been growing in recent years. Their idea is to simulate as closely as possible the functioning of the human brain: namely, its ability to learn and correct errors. This is one of the areas in the development of artificial intelligence systems. Using neural networks, one can generate texts, edit music, create images and write code, for example. And it can be successfully used in science. On 16 May, during the online lecture “Neural networks for physics”, FLNP junior researcher Bulat Bakirov spoke about the challenges JINR scientists face and how they use neural networks in practice.
About the history of the reactor – clearly and in detail
This year, one of the most important anniversary events at JINR was the 40th anniversary of the IBR-2 fast neutron reactor start-up at the Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics. The exhibition “40 years with IBR-2” that opened at the JINR Museum of History of Science and Technology is dedicated to this event.
About science in memories
Two new books by researchers of the Laboratory of Nuclear Problems: the collection “Physics among friends and colleagues” by Vladimir Komarov and the monograph “Muons and nuclei, or the adventures of the muon in the nucleus” authored by Basar Sabirov have been published at the JINR Publishing Department.
Veterans celebrated the holiday
An evening dedicated to the 79th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War was held at the JINR Scientists’ Club. It was held by the JINR Veterans’ Council.
