GRID in Mongolia – the first achievements

A JINR delegation, namely Director of the Laboratory of Information Technologies Professor V.V.Ivanov, LIT Deputy Director V.V.Korenkov and ICD Chief Engineer M.G. Loshchilov, at the invitation of JINR Plenipotentiary of Mongolia Academician S.Enkhbat visited Ulaanbaatar on 22-25 August 2011. Process of cooperation on development of Mongolian GRID-segment was discussed at the Nuclear Energy Agency of Mongolia (NEAM), the Institute of Computer Science MAS, the National University of Mongolia (NUM) and the Mongolian University of Science and Technology (MUST).

The first successful steps in this area were emphasized – at the Institute of Computer Science MAS scientific researchers of the institute  S.Batbayar and P.Tserenbat, supervised by Professor B.Nergui and with active support of LIT scientific researcher N.A.Kutovski (JINR), have developed an educational GRID-site, which became a part of educational-scientific infrastructure of the JINR Member States.

NUM Deputy Rector Ch.Ganzorig, Director of the NUM Nuclear Research Center Professor S.Davaa, MUST Rector Professor B.Damdinsuren during negotiations with Academician S.Enkhbat laid out further concrete activities for attraction of young Mongolian specialists (including students) to work on new information technologies.

During the visit to NEAM Professor V.V.Ivanov was awarded the Badge of Honor of Mongolian Government “Leading scientific researcher” for services in development of Mongolian science and training of highly skilled specialists.

Leader of the Mongolian national group of JINR staff members Dr. O.Chuluunbaatar actively participated in all negotiations.
