Third exhibition of JINR Artists’ Club opened at Mir Centre

News, 25 December 2024

On 24 December, the grand opening of a Quarks-Sparks JINR Artists’ Club exhibition took place at the JINR Mir Cultural Centre. This time, the participants presented works related to fairytales of the world.

The paintings are created in various techniques: watercolour, pastel, oil, acrylic, gouache, and graphics. The plaster and papier-mâché installations incorporate decorative features and lighting. The exhibition begins with a tower designed as a mix of geographical and architectural objects, symbolising the friendship of countries and peoples. The whole exposition is imbued with the same message: fairytales are an eternal source of inspiration, a way of passing cultural traditions from generation to generation, regardless of where the legends were born and in what language they were told for the first time.

At the opening of the exhibition, Head of the JINR Social Infrastructure Management Office Andrey Tamonov noted that there are many creative people at the Institute, finding fulfilment in science, but also demonstrating their talents through art, so it is important and necessary to have such a club. Each exhibition features new authors, techniques, and images, and there are certainly surprises. For example, it would seem that there is little connection between science and fairytales, but these are two of the most universal values that unite nations.”

“The club is developing well,” Anastasia Zlobina, the head of the club, says. “This exhibition turned out to be even better and more interesting than the previous one. This means that we are growing and moving forward. We are gaining more and more participants and various teachers. Vsevolod Mavlyanov, a promising young Dubna artist, is exhibiting with us today, and we will later ask him to conduct a master class to share his skills.”

The Quarks-Sparks JINR Artists’ Club has been operating for three years. During this time, several dozen employees of the Institute enjoyed the opportunity to work with various materials, discover their skills of drawing and painting, and create decorative compositions. This summer, the club members painted en plein air again, this time on the bank of the Volga River near the Svyatiyo Village. Anastasia Zlobina mentioned an idea to turn such nature trips into a full-fledged annual festival.

The Fairytales of the World exhibition will be open daily from 1:00 to 7:00 PM (except Monday) at the exhibition hall of the JINR Mir Cultural Centre. The admission is free.
