Slovak Republic students visited JINR

On 13 December 2024, a group of Slovak students from MGIMO University, Financial University, and Moscow Polytechnic University toured the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research. During the visit, they got acquainted with the research infrastructure and attended educational lectures by the Institute’s scientists.
The programme started with a visit to the Mir Cultural Centre. The students took a tour of the JINR Main Facilities exhibition conducted by the Institute’s staff Tatyana Strokovskaya (University Centre) and Ksenia Klygina (VBLHEP) and got acquainted with the exhibition entitled “Laboratory of Nuclear Problems: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow”, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the laboratory.
At the Laboratory of Information Technologies at JINR, the visit’s organizer, Head of the Computational Physics Department Ján Buša gave a talk about the infrastructure of the Laboratory and the activities of the MLIT employees. In addition, the students visited the machine room and got a chance to see the Govorun Supercomputer.
The students’ visit continued at the Laboratory of Neutron Physics at JINR, where FLNP Deputy Director Nobert Kučerka spoke about the research results of the laboratory’s scientists.
The last point of the programme was a visit to BLTP, world’s largest theoretical physics laboratory. Head of the BLTP JINR Sector of Quantum Field Theory Methods in Complex Systems Michal Hnatič spoke about the scientific activities of the sector.
