Chairman of the Israeli Committee on High Energy Physics of the Academy of science and the Ministry of Science of Israel Professor Eliezer Rabinovichi (the Hebrew University of Jerusalem) and Chairman of the JINR PAC on Particle Physics Professor Itzhak Tserruya (the Weizmann Institute of Science) visited JINR on 11 July 2013.

The guests were welcomed at the JINR Directorate by Academician V.A. Matveev, Professor M.G. Itkis, Academician V.G. Kadyshevsky, Professors V.D. Kekelidze, A.S. Sorin, RAS Corresponding Member G.V.Trubnikov, and Doctor of Sciences D.V. Kamanin. During an hour long discussion which was held in warm, friendly atmosphere different aspects of the existing scientific cooperation between JINR and scientific centers of Israel were discussed, steps for further development of comprehensive contacts were proposed. Professor Eliezer Rabinovichi and Professor Itzhak Tserruya expressed gratitude for the hearty welcome and expressed hope that this visit will be the continuation and development of scientific contacts as well as of socially significant personal contacts.

The Israeli delegation visited detector and accelerator laboratories of the NICA complex at the Veksler and Baldin Laboratory of High Energy Physics, the cyclotron complex of the Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions, the IBR-2M reactor of the Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics and the Laboratory of Information Technologies, after that a ceremony of signing of a framework agreement between the Israel Academy of Sciences and JINR was held. The signed agreement will promote further development of traditionally fruitful relations between scientists from JINR and Israel.

The agreement establishes cooperation in the areas of experimental and theoretical physics, astrophysics, nuclear and particle physics, and related technologies, exchange of information, technology and scientists, organization of joint seminars and schools.
