JINR – PRC: a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed

Leaders of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research receive a scientific delegation from the People’s Republic of China on 6 – 9 August 2013. Head of the Department of Basic research programme of the PRC Ministry of Science and Technology Foo Xiaofeng, Director of the CAS Institute of Plasma Physics Li Jiangang, and staff members of that Institute – Assistant Director Song Yuntao and Deputy Head of Department Dun Shaohua came to get acquainted with research fields and facilities of JINR.

FLNR Deputy Director A.G. Popeko spoke about achievements and prospects of scientific research and its implementation for solution of applied tasks on 7 August in the Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions. More specified excursion were held in the Veksler and Baldin Laboratory of High Energy Physics at the constructed collider NICA and production of superconducting magnets. JINR Director V.A. Matveev, JINR Scientific Leader V.G. Kadyshevsky, JINR Vice-Director M.G.Itkis, JINR Deputy Chief Scientific Secretary D.V.Kamanin, VBLHEP representatives Director V.D. Kekelidze, VBLHEP Deputy Directors Yu.K. Potrebenikov, A.S. Sorin, G.V. Trubnikov, Chief Engineer of the basic facility G.G. Khodzhibagiyan participated in a meeting with JINR leaders. Li Jiangang spoke about the Five-Year Plan of the scientific development, which in being implemented by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and also about research, achievements and plans. The outcome of the meeting was the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation.
