Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Republic of Belarus to Russia visits JINR

On 16 September, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Russian Federation Alexander Rogozhnik visited the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research. At the meeting with the leadership of the Institute, the parties discussed prospects for the development of comprehensive cooperation between JINR and Belarus.

The programme of the delegation’s visit began with an introduction to the JINR scientific infrastructure. At the Laboratory of High Energy Physics, the guests learned about the progress of the implementation of the NICA Megascience Project. At the JINR Mir Cultural Centre, the delegation got acquainted with the wide range of Institute’s research at the JINR Main Facilities interactive exhibition.

“On a global scale, the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research is a truly unique scientific centre. This is a place where you can fully appreciate what international cooperation for the world’s benefit means. This is where the basis of all fundamental research and the future of science is laid. We are pleased to know that there is also a piece of Belarus in this unique Institute. We will continue to fully develop our partnership by implementing more joint projects,” Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to Russia Alexander Rogozhnik said.

During the meeting with the JINR Directorate, a discussion took place regarding issues of strengthening cooperation with the leading scientific centres of Belarus in physics, optics, microelectronics, and medicine.

JINR was represented by the Director of the Joint Institute Grigory Trubnikov, Vice-Director Sergey Dmitriev, Director of the JINR University Centre Dmitry Kamanin, and Head of the International Cooperation Department Otilia-Ana Culicov. Minister-Counselor of the Embassy Dmitry Fomchenko and Counselor Svetlana Ivanova participated in the meeting together with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus.
