24th Baikal Summer School on Elementary Particles Physics and Astrophysics starts

On 10 July 2024, the 24th International Baikal Summer School on Physics of Elementary Particles and Astrophysics started. The school will take place in the Bolshiye Koty Village (Russia, Irkutsk Region) near the Baikal Biological Station of Irkutsk State University until 17 July.

This year, undergraduate and graduate students from Bosnia and Herzegovina, China, Cuba, India, Kazakhstan, Moldova, the Netherlands, Vietnam are participating in the school. Young scientists from Irkutsk, Dubna, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Vladivostok are representing Russia.

Deputy Director of the Laboratory of Nuclear Problems at JINR, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the school, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics Dmitry Naumov addressed the participants, “The 24th Baikal School on Physics of Elementary Particles and Astrophysics started. Young and experienced physicists and astrophysicists, engineers and geneticists gathered in the small hospitable Bolshiye Koty Village on the shore of Lake Baikal. During the week, the students will listen to fascinating lectures, present their reports, sing campfire songs, have lengthy midnight conversations, dive into astronomy at night, make new friends, enjoy sunny days, refreshing Baikal, wonderful nature, and much more. All this is what makes the Baikal School truly special.
