Seminar topic: “First-priority experiments with polarized protons and deuterons at Nuclotron”

Speaker: Yuri Filatov (MIPT)

Abstract:

The Nuclotron is equipped with two polarimeters on the internal and external targets, which allow measuring the vertical polarization of protons and deuterons. The main loss of polarization during proton acceleration in the Nuclotron up to 3.5 GeV/c occurs at the crossing of integer spin resonances. For protons, the strengths of integer spin resonances, which is necessary to develop a strategy to preserve the proton polarization using correcting dipoles of the Nuclotron it is proposed to measure. For deuterons, the new technique of spin-flip by means of adiabatic crossing of the intrinsic resonance with betatron tunes it is proposed to experimentally test. Such the deuteron spin-flip system is relevant for the NICA collider.
