Two programs registered for REGATA Unit at IBR-2 Reactor

Patents, 29 May 2024

The Innovations and Intellectual Property Department of JINR announces that on 17 May 2024, the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research received two certificates of state registration for software for the operation of the REGATA Unit of the IBR-2 Research Reactor, designed to conduct research in the field of ecology, materials science, biotechnology, etc.

Congratulations to the authors on receiving state registration!

  1. “Control program for the REGATA Pneumatic Transport Unit at the IBR-2 Reactor”

    Author: Dmitry Grozdov (FLNP JINR)

One of the stages of neutron activation analysis at the IBR-2 Reactor is irradiating samples with neutrons. The program allows operating the REGATA Pneumatic Transport Unit at the IBR-2 Reactor, which delivers containers with samples to the irradiation zone. The unit is controlled through the I/O units MU110-32R and MV110-32DN with the RS-485 interface. The input unit receives information from optical sensors and limit switches. Optical sensors monitor the position of the sample container on various sections of the route. Limit switches transmit information about the position of the pneumatic distributors. The output unit controls the compressed pneumatic distributors and air valves of the unit. The supply and discharge of compressed air into the pipeline of the route is carried out by automatic opening/closing of the corresponding valves. Computer type: IBM PC-compatible based on Intel, AMD processors, х32, х64; OS: Windows 10 and further versions.
Programming language: С#, .NET Framework 4.8.1.
    Program size: 13.3 Mb

  2. “Software package: “Neutron activation analysis at the REGATA Facility at the IBR-2 Reactor”

Authors: Dmitry Grozdov, Vladimir Galustov (FLNP JINR)

The program is designed to automate the stages of neutron activation analysis at the IBR-2 Reactor, which include sample registration, irradiation, measurement, spectrum processing, and final calculation of element concentrations. The sample registration system enables the batches of samples and standards to be created, edited, and saved. At the irradiation stage, it is possible to download the information about samples and the neutron irradiation. The form for measuring activated samples allows the operator to automate gamma-ray spectrometry on four detectors at the same time. Automation of the gamma spectrum processing stage allows for storing processed spectra, creating, editing, and saving a group standard, as well as automatically calculating the concentrations of elements in samples. Analysis results for each batch of samples can be downloaded. Computer type: IBM PC-compatible based on Intel, AMD processors, х32, х64; OS: Windows 10 and further versions.
Programming language: С#, .NET Framework 4.8.1.
