AYSS seminar at JINR Scientists’ Club
Seminars
On 17 January 2024, at 4:00 PM, the Association of Young Scientists and Specialists at JINR invites everyone interested to the next seminar that will take place in the Big Hall of the JINR Scientists’ Club (6, Joliot-Curie street, left side).
An FLNP chief researcher Evgeny Shabalin will deliver his lecture “Pulsed reactors, or 100 years of solitude in Dubna.” The speaker will talk about pulsed nuclear reactors.
“It happened a long time ago, back when Nikita Khrushchev had not yet managed to expose the personality cult of Joseph Stalin, and the speaker had not yet met his future wife. Professor Dmitry Blokhintsev, the creator of the world’s first nuclear power plant, came up with another, much more dangerous thing: the first periodically pulsed nuclear reactor. And it just so happened that around that time, the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research was established, and its first director, the same Dmitry Blokhintsev, brought this “tiger” to Dubna, – “in a cage”, thankfully…”
There will be a small coffee break at 4:00 PM, which precedes the seminar. The report will start at 4:15 PM.
To join the event on 17 January, please fill in the form via the link not later than 4:00 PM 16 January.
