Youth associations of JINR and Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences to work together

A festive signing of the Letter of Intent between the Association of Young Scientists and Specialists (AYSS) of JINR and the Council of Young Scientists of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan took place in Uzbekistan. Mikhail Shandov, an AYSS Council member from the Laboratory of High Energy Physics at JINR, and Said Gulyamov, Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, signed the document. The signing was held at a meeting of the Council of Young Scientists of the International Association of Academies of Sciences as part of the “Week of innovative insights of young scientists: shaping the future of science and technology” in Uzbekistan.
The purpose of the Letter of Intent is to establish long-term cooperation between the parties aimed at effective coordination of research activities of young scientists, exchange of experience, joint implementation of scientific projects, and other activities in the interests of science development. As Mikhail Shandov noted, the youth associations of JINR and the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan are discussing the possibility of holding joint events, participating in each other’s scientific projects and research programmes, and options for promoting the professional development of young scientists.
The events of the “Week of innovative insights of young scientists” are being held from 31 October to 4 November in a number of Uzbekistan cities and are dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan. During the week, the participants are actively discussing cooperation and exchange of experience in artificial intelligence and machine learning, nanotechnology, development of new materials, application of virtual and augmented reality technologies, innovative developments in medicine, etc. Young scientists from Uzbekistan, Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, JINR, Moscow State University, and the Kurchatov Institute are taking part in the event.
“It was the initiative of the Council of Young Scientists of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan to hold this meeting, and we have already managed to appreciate the high level of organization of events, the hospitality of our partners, and the cultural programme,” Mikhail Shandov noted. “The institutes of the Academy are located in different cities, we are moving between them, listening to reports in the morning and afternoon, participating in discussions of topical issues, and in the evening visiting the sights of the city we are in. Uzbekistan is a JINR Member State, and we are very pleased that the country’s Academy of Sciences and the Government are showing growing interest in JINR science and international youth cooperation.”
