RuPAC’23 Accelerators Conference started in Novosibirsk
Conferences, 11 September 2023
On 11 September, the 28th Russian Particle Accelerators Conference RuPAC’23 began at the Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (INP SB RAS). On the first day of the conference, Director of the Laboratory of High Energy Physics at JINR Andrey Butenko made a report on the status of construction of the NICA Collider.
“RuPaC is one of the leading Russian scientific meetings with more than 50-year history. The first conference – the All-Union Meeting on Charged Particle Accelerators at the time – was held in 1968,” Director of VBLHEP at JINR Andrey Butenko noted.
More than 40 JINR scientists are participating in the conference, 29 of whom are presenting reports on the topics of the NICA Megascience Project.
The event is aimed at considering a wide range of problems of physics of charged particle beams and accelerator technology, drafts and projects of the creation of new and upgrading of existing charged particle accelerators.
At the conference, participants will discuss modern trends in development of accelerator technology, aspects of the use of accelerators in high-energy physics, nuclear physics, new technologies, including the use of superconductivity. Special sessions of the conference focus on the issues of accelerator technology and dynamics of charged particles in accelerators. Participants are considering separately the use of particle accelerators in medicine and other applied tasks.
INP SB RAS, A. M. Prokhorov General Physics Institute of RAS, and the Scientific Council of RAS on Charged Particle Accelerators organized the conference.
The working languages of RuPAC-2023 are English and Russian. The conference will last until 15 September.
