134th session of JINR Scientific Council

On 21 – 22 September 2023, the 134th regular session of the Scientific Council of the Institute will be held at the JINR International Conference Centre. The event will be chaired by Professor Sergey Kilin, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The members of the Scientific Council will discuss the draft of the JINR Development Plan for the next seven years and elect the Director of the Laboratory of Nuclear Problems. The presentation of the awards will take place. Winners of a new OGANESSON Award will be announced.
A report by JINR Director, RAS Academician Grigory Trubnikov will open the programme of the event on the first day.
The members of the Scientific Council will review and discuss the draft of the Seven-Year Plan for the Development of JINR for 2024–2030 and the recommendations of the JINR Programme Advisory Committees adopted at the meetings in June this year.
Elections for the position of the Director of the Dzhelepov Laboratory of Nuclear Problems and endorsement of the appointments of Deputy Directors of the Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics and the Meshcheryakov Laboratory of Information Technologies will take place.
Grigory Trubnikov will present information on the membership of the JINR Programme Advisory Committees and announce vacancies for positions in the directorates of the Institute’s laboratories.
The members of the Scientific Council will hear the reports of young JINR scientists recommended at the PAC meetings, namely “The correction system of the NICA Booster guiding magnetic field” (Mikhail Shandov, VBLHEP) and “Proximity effects at superconducting and ferromagnetic heterostructures” (Vladimir Zhaketov, FLNP).
Grigory Trubnikov and Chairman of the Oganesson Prize Committee, RAS Academician, RAS past president, Scientific Leader of the National Centre for Physics and Mathematics, Alexander Sergeyev, will make a report on the work of the organizing committee and the first laureates of the new award. The Prize was initiated and sponsored by Yuri Oganessian, the Scientific Leader of the Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions at JINR and RAS Academician.
The Nikolay Bogoliubov Prize will be awarded to Dmitry Kazakov, Director of the Laboratory of Theoretical Physics at JINR and RAS Corresponding Member.
The agenda of the meeting will include proposals for awarding the title “Honorary Doctor of JINR”.
The presentation of diplomas to the winners of the JINR Prizes for 2022 for the best scientific, methodical, technological, and applied research works will take place.
A general discussion and adoption of the resolution of the 134th session of the Scientific Council will conclude the meeting.
