“Battleship Potemkin” (1925): The film shows the uprising on the battleship “Prince Potemkin-Tavrichesky” during the revolutionary events of 1905. The movie is one of the most influential works of cinema art of the twentieth century, not least due to its powerful ideological charge, which is why it has been repeatedly recognized as an “ideal propaganda cinema”.
The participants of the JINR Cinema Club will find out why the film became the source of many allusions, movie quotes and parodies, whether the plot corresponds to the historical truth, and how the director solved artistic and propaganda tasks.
