On 11 December, Victor Anatolievich Matveev, an outstanding theoretical physicist and a science organizer, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, JINR Scientific Leader, turns 81.

During the years under the leadership of Victor Anatolievich, the Joint Institute was developing as one of the leading international scientific centres. Now, as JINR Scientific Leader, Academician Matveev continues actively contributing to the firm enhancement of the research potential of the Institute. In addition, although JINR is getting more attractive, including for the young generation of scientists, it preserves its unique atmosphere of scientific search.

Victor Anatolievich is known, loved, and deeply respected at the Joint Institute and beyond not only as an authoritative colleague and a fair leader, but also as a person of high moral qualities, ethical, wise, and strong in spirit.
