A visit of high-school students from Moscow to Dubna

On 17 February 2016, a visit to JINR was organized for 30 high-school students and 6 teachers from gymnasium No. 1797 “Bogorodskaya”, Moscow. The visit programme included: guided tours of Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions and Veksler and Baldin Laboratory for High Energy Physics.
The participants listened to an introductory lecture on the main fields of research and the latest achievements of FLNR, which was delivered by the laboratory specialists A. Artyukh and A. Voinov. Further on, the students accompanied by A. Voinov visited the accelerator IC-100 and the NanoLab of FLNR, where O. Orelovich introduced them to the operation principles of the latest electron microscope.
During the tour of the Laboratory of High Energy Physics, the participants visited the Synchrophasotron hall and saw one of the JINR basic facilities – the Nuclotron. One of the laboratory specialists O. Kunchenko told the participants about a top-priority mega-science project being implemented on the territory of Russia – the NICA collider. Later on, A. Galimov outlined the process of production of superconducting magnets designed for the NICA project and demonstrated spectacular experiments with liquid nitrogen.
