Independence Day of Ukraine

On 24 August, Ukraine, a JINR Member State, celebrates its main national holiday – Independence Day.

The Republic of Ukraine, as a part of the USSR, joined JINR since its foundation in 1956. Ukraine, as an independent state, has continued cooperation as a JINR Member State since 1991.

The traditional areas of scientific interest of Ukrainian scientists at JINR are theoretical physics, particle and relativistic nuclear physics, condensed matter physics. In addition to participation in JINR flagship projects, Ukrainian scientists at JINR participate in the international collaborations ALICE and CMS experiments at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, as well as collaborations COMET and T2K (J-PARC, Japan), Mu2e (Fermilab, the USA) and MEG II (PSI, Switzerland); in creation of the Laboratory for Structural Research SOLCRYS at the NCPS SOLARIS (Poland).

The areas of JINR cooperation with scientific organizations of Ukraine were widely discussed at the workshop “Prospects for cooperation between Ukraine and JINR”, which was held from 6 to 10 September 2021 at institutes of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine within the celebrations of the 65th anniversary of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research.
