Independence Day of Republic of Azerbaijan

The Independence Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan has been celebrated in the JINR Member State since the 1990s in honour of the proclamation of independence of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic by the National Council in 1918.
Relations with national scientific centres of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani scientists have existed throughout the entire history of JINR. Today, cooperation with Azerbaijan covers all the laboratories of the Institute.
In 2022, the following scientific organizations of Azerbaijan are cooperating with the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in the frames of 13 topics of the JINR Topical Plan: Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), the Institute of Physics of ANAS, the Institute of Radiation Problems of ANAS, Baku State University, Azerbaijan Technical University, the National Nuclear Research Centre of Azerbaijan, the Institute of Geology and Geophysics of ANAS, ADA University.
JINR and Azerbaijani colleagues cooperate in many areas of research and projects of the Institute, including the NICA collider, the Superheavy Element Factory, the IBR-2 reactor. Every year Azerbaijani scientists expand the scope of their scientific interests, the number of projects and experiments in which they take an active part is growing.
Many specialists from Azerbaijan have been trained and completed internships in Dubna. Major joint scientific conferences are held. For example, in December 2021, Baku hosted the VII International Conference “Modern Trends in Physics” (MTP-2021), organized with the participation of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, Baku State University, and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Maintaining strong working ties with the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan, a meeting of the JINR Directorate with new Plenipotentiary Representative of the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan in JINR, Academician Arif Hashimov, was organized in Dubna in March 2021.
The Directorate of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research congratulates Azerbaijani colleagues and partners, as well as their relatives, on the Independence Day and wishes them good health, happiness, well-being, luck, and new professional successes for the benefits of science and progress.
