New Year address by JINR Director RAS Academician Grigory Trubnikov
Organization, 24 December 2021
Dear colleagues, friends! Happy New Year and Merry Christmas!
It is a tradition to conclude the outgoing year by looking at the results and to welcome the new one with plans and expectations.
The 65th anniversary of the Institute and our bright scientific achievements today are a marvellous occasion to thank on behalf of the many-thousand international team of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research the Member States, as well as Associate Members and partners of the Institute for their extensive support.
Our main value is the human capital: our scientists, engineers, and specialists, our multinational staff – from young researchers to mature leaders and honoured scientists of the Institute.
The year 2021 has allowed many of our colleagues to establish new partner contacts, present their brave scientific initiatives. It has shown the inconditional value of science, technologies, and trusting international scientific dialogue.
I would like to emphasise that the year 2021 has become historical: the Arab Republic of Egypt has joined the family of the JINR Member States. Moreover, the Institute has taken an active part in the agenda of the Year of Science and Technology in the Russian Federation, the country of our residence.
Each of us will have our own memories of 2021. Throughout the past 12 months, we have been striving to react quickly to the challenges by altering the ordinary lifestyle. Of course, there have been difficulties; and many tasks are yet to be solved.
The year 2022 is expected to be rich in events. The Institute has joined the Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development proclaimed by the UN. One of the missions for the next year will be to energise attracting talented and professional personnel to Dubna, to extend the geography of the Member States and partner countries of the Joint Institute.
Dear friends, dear colleagues, I wish you a happy New Year!
I cordially wish you and your loved-ones, your families and friends good health, peace, and happiness!
May the new year be rich in discoveries, victories, and the warmth of a live human interaction!
JINR Director, Academician Grigory Trubnikov
